Distribution: Cape York Peninsular FNQ to Sydney region NSW.

Sighted at Claire Cottage in; June 2014, September 2006, 2017, October 2020.

This butterfly is an infrequent visitor to our property.

This female Striated Pearl-white, Elodina parthia, came to the garden after a very dry winter. Apparently confused, she laid an egg on a Wallflower. 3 Sep 2017 5.19 pm

Distribution: Cape York Peninsular FNQ to Sydney region NSW.

This butterfly is an infrequent visitor to our property.

Butterfly Sightings:

Larval food plants:
  • CLAIRE COTTAGE: CAPPARACEAE - Capparis arborea,
  • DORRIGO PLATEAU: (as for Claire Cottage)
  • ELSEWHERE: ​CAPPARACEAE - (as for Claire Cottage plus)  Capparis canescens, C. sarmentosa, C. spinosa, C. velutina.

​There are eight Pearl White species in Australia three of which which may be sighted on the Dorrigo Plateau. They all closely resemble each other and care needs to be taken to correctly identify them. The other two similar species are Elodina padusa (Narrow-winged Pearl-white) and Elodina angulipennis (Southern Pearl-white).


Status Dorrigo Plateau:  uncommon
Flight habit: Throughout the day.
