This small, fast flying, skipper is possibly more common than our few confirmed sightings indicate. It is similar to many of the other Grass-darts. Confirming correct identification requires clear focused photographs thus having our camera handy is always important. Even so correctly identifying small Skipper species from photos can be very difficult. Great care is required to separate the following two, very similar, common species:
Narrow-brand (Common) Grass-dart - Ocybadistes flavovittatus and the
Green (Walkers) Grass-dart - Ocybadistes walkeri
Other similar species which may possibly be found on the Dorrigo Plateau and could prove difficult to identify are: White-margined Grass-dart - Ocybadistes hypomeloma, Small Yellow Grass-dart - Taractrocera dolon, White-banded Grass-dart - Taractrocera papyria, Wide-brand Grass-dart - Suniana sunias and Dark Grass-dart - Suniana lascivia.
