Breeding season on the Dorrigo Plateau: Not Applicable
Breeding season in FNQ - not confirmed but thought to be all year
Flight habit: Nocturnal - Active at night.
Adult Moth: Size at rest - tip of thorax to tip of forewing: ?? - ??mm
Mature larva: length - ??mm. Colour forms in the final instar are a Brown form, a Blackish/Brown form and a Purplish/Brown form.
Note: The first known discovery of an Australian Hippotion johanna larva was made by our daughter Wynne Robinson whilst searching for Hawk Moth larvae with her Mum & Dad (Carol & Trevor Deane) at Whyanbeel, FNQ in May 2013. Until that moment the foodplant (Persicaria decipians) of Hippotion johanna was also unknown.
