Caterpillar Food Plants on our property

In addition to our Dorrigo property foodplants listed below there is an informative booklet, Butterfly Host Plants of South-east Queensland and Northern New South Wales, compiled by John T. Moss for the Butterfly & Other Invertebrates Club Inc. (BOIC). This booklet contains a lot of butterfly food plant information.

If you wish to purchase native food plants for your garden local native nursery's are:

Boggy Creek Natives - Colin Broadfoot (Phone 0409 599 090)

John Ross (Phone  6655 2249 or 0427 071 354)

These nurserymen have stalls at the Bellingen Markets and the Bellingen Plant Fairs.

John Ross also owns the Alternative Bookshop in Bellingen where Butterfly reference books can be purchased.

Dorrigo Plateau Butterfly Food Plants

This is a list of the Dorrigo Plateau butterfly food plants growing on our property. They are divided into  three categories: natives found here naturally (Local Natives), natives from elsewhere (Introduced Natives - that we have planted here) and finally non native species.  The food plants listed on the individual page for each relevant butterfly species may include plants that do not grow naturally on the Plateau where the butterfly is migratory and has traveled far from its natural breeding area.
